Location guide
Where to get married in Colorado.
Sixteen places I’ve shot or scouted, with the light that works, the permit you’ll need, and what nobody tells you until you’re standing there.
Denver Botanic Gardens
CityDenver
The conservatory saves a rainy day, and the water-lily pools give you a second location without moving the car.
Denver Clerk & Recorder
CourthouseDenver
Book the ceremony slot online. Fifteen minutes inside, then we walk to the McNichols steps and Civic Center for the rest.
Larimer County Courthouse
CourthouseFort Collins
My favourite small ceremony in the state. Old Town is thirty seconds away and looks good in every direction.
Chautauqua Park
MountainBoulder
The meadow below the trailhead gives you the Flatirons without the hike. Parking fills by nine on weekends.
Sunrise Amphitheater
MountainFlagstaff Mountain, Boulder
Stone benches, a straight drive up, and the whole Front Range laid out below. Small ceremonies only.
Sapphire Point Overlook
AlpineDillon
A short walk to a view over Lake Dillon with the Tenmile Range behind. Ten people is about the limit.
Georgetown Lake
AlpineGeorgetown
An hour from Denver and it looks like you drove four. The frozen lake sessions are some of my best work.
St. Mary’s Glacier
AlpineIdaho Springs
A genuine short hike — three quarters of a mile, uphill, loose rock. Worth it, but not in the dress you love most.
Rocky Mountain National Park
MountainEstes Park
Apply well ahead — permits are limited, locations are prescribed, and timed entry applies in summer.
Maroon Bells
MountainAspen
The most photographed mountains in North America for a reason. Plan it like an expedition or don’t plan it.
Evergreen Lake House
MountainEvergreen
Timber, water and mountains in one frame, thirty minutes from Denver. Books a year out.
Piney River Ranch
AlpineVail
The drive in is eleven miles of dirt road. Tell your guests twice, then tell them again.
Garden of the Gods
MountainColorado Springs
Enormous red fins and Pikes Peak behind them. Free to enter, busy from nine, magic before seven.
Washington Park
CityDenver
Where I take most engagement sessions. Boathouse, big trees, two lakes, and somewhere to park.
Clear Creek & Windy Saddle
CityGolden
Water, a bridge, a main street and a mountain overlook inside twenty minutes of each other.
Guanella Pass
AlpineGeorgetown
The best aspen colour in the state for about ten days a year. Closed in winter — check before you commit.
Permits, fees and access change every season — always confirm with the venue or land manager before you book anything. If you’re looking at somewhere that isn’t on this list, send it to me and I’ll tell you honestly whether it photographs well.
